Long ago, I was wounded. I lived
to revenge myself
against my father, not
for what he was—
for what I was: from the beginning of time,
in childhood, I thought
that pain meant
I was not loved.
It meant I loved.

Louise Glück, em Ararate.

In terms of this reciprocal creative dynamic, does she offer advice on song lyrics?

Not directly. She doesn't sit down and write the lyrics to a song with me, because there is no room in the process for her, or anyone else (...)
But I think, ultimately, my songs are gifts to her and I think her dresses are gifts to me. We are both waving to each other, through our work.
